Perfect mountain for family hiking
Situated at the western end of the Kujurenzan mountain range, Mt. Misokobushi has a long ridge line of grassy hills with gentle slopes, making a perfect hiking course for families and friends. Climbing a little further up along the ridge, you will reach Mt. Waita, where you will have a wonderful views from the lookout. It is a good place for hiking in all seasons, but prepare against sweltering heat on the sunny days in summer as there are no shades on the course. The ridge line forms the border between Oita and Kumamoto Prefectures. You can enjoy both the magnificent view of the Kujurenzan range over a steep slope on the Oita side and a peaceful view over gently-sloping pastures on the Kumamoto side.
