All year round, visitors can enjoy Aso’s panoramic grassy plains. A landscape that changes
with the seasons, and a view so spectacular it's easy to forget that you are still in Japan.
This is what has made Aso such a popular destination for tourists, and every year people
flock from all over Japan. There is also an active volcano to be seen at Mt Nakadake, and
Aso shrine is known as one of the oldest in Japan. Another way to soak up the nature of Aso
is with a dip in an open-air bath at one of the area's many hot spring hotels.
Not only this, the region’s crops and livestock, all raised on the mineral-rich spring water that
flows from Mt Aso, are very highly regarded within Japan. When used in local cuisine, the
flavour produced is really something special.
